The three core components of Super DM Technology

BYD Super DM technology comprises 3 core components:

Electric Hybrid System (EHS)

The Electric Hybrid System (EHS) is a highly integrated powertrain that incorporates high-speed dual motors, dual controllers and advanced oil-cooling technology to increase motor power density and efficiency.

High-Speed Dual Motors:
EHS utilises impressive high-speed dual motors, with a maximum speed of up to 15,000 rpm. With two separate functions, the P1 motor generates the power and the P3 motor drives the wheels producing excellent performance in varying vehicle conditions.

Hairpin Motor
EHS uses innovative hairpin technology which significantly improves heat dissipation performance. Peak efficiency can be as much as 97%, remaining stable above 90% for most of the time.

Oil Cooling Technology
EHS benefits from oil cooling technology that directly cools the heat source, enhancing dissipation capabilities, and increasing motor power density to a maximum of 5.5 kW/kg.

Highly Integrated Dual-Motor Controller
IGBT elevates the overall electronic control efficiency up to 98.9%.

Xiaoyun 1.5L/1.5T Hybrid engine

An innovative engine design tailored for Super DM Technology, the Xioayun engine boasts world-leading thermal efficiency and a streamlined compact structure, enhancing power output with impressive peak power and torque.

A large capacity Blade Battery

BYD Super DM Technology uses a tailor-made version of the highly acclaimed Blade Battery. These bespoke Blade Batteries for the hybrid platform have power capacities ranging from 18.3 kWh, achieving a pure-electric range from 43 miles. It offers multiple benefits such as the following.

Enhanced safety
The Blade Battery has safely passed the stringent Nail Penetration Test without emitting fire or smoke.

Optimised strength
Arranged in an array in one pack, each cell serves as a structural beam to help withstand force. The aluminium honeycomb-like structure, with high-strength panels on the upper and lower sides of the pack, enhances vertical rigidity.

Longer range
Compared with traditional battery packs, space utilisation is increased by 50% with the Blade Battery. This produces enhanced energy density for a longer range.

Longer lifecycle
The Blade Battery has a long battery life of over 5000 charge and discharge cycles.
